When the mercury drops, Red River Ski and Snowboard Area becomes the town's main attraction. With its mixed terrain, an average of 18 feet of snow and soft powder each season, and a friendly, casual attitude, this is the ideal place to ski and snowboard for the entire family.

Directions From Albuquerque take Interstate 25 north to Santa Fe and exit 276B. This is the exit for NM 599, the Santa Fe Bypass which routes around the city of Santa Fe. Take NM 599 north to US 285 north. Proceed north about 24 miles on US 285 to Espanola. Continue straight through Espanola as the road becomes NM 68 to Taos. In Taos, NM 68 becomes NM 522. Proceed north through the town of Taos on NM 522 about 24 miles to Questa. In Questa turn right on NM 38 and travel 12 miles into the town of Red River. Turn right on Pioneer Road to the ski area. Travel time from Albuquerque is about 3 1/2 hours.
Red River offers truly no-hassle skiing because 90 percent of the town's lodging is within walking distance of the slopes. No cars to park. Just jump on the shuttle. You're already there. Step outside, strap on your skis and hop on one of the six chairlifts—two leave directly from town—for a great day of skiing.
Beginners to experts, everyone will find terrain that challenges them. The snowboarders in your posse can try the jumps and rails at our terrain park. And everyone will have a bang-up time at the Moon Star Mining Camp, a replica of a mining camp that you can ski right through.
